Guitarist Needed
Westwind Swing Band is currently seeking a guitarist to accompany the band. Swing/Jazz experience is preferred and improvisation ability is a big plus, but being a team player is equally important!
We are a fun, established 18 piece big band with vocalist and have a large following. We play original arrangements popularized by Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, etc.
We are looking for a musician who can commit to regular Thursday night rehearsals at Hopkins North Middle School band room and a regular gig schedule of about 20 gigs annually, including a regular monthly First Thursday Night Swing Night at Wabasha Street Caves. Substitute Musicians Needed
As a working big band, the Westwind Swing Band occasionally needs substitute musicians. Becoming a substitute may eventually lead to permanent membership if an opening occurs. We are a fun, established 18 piece big band with vocalist and have a large following. We play original arrangements popularized by Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, etc. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at Hopkins North Jr. High band room. Westwind Swing Band's Mission:
To preserve and perform classic Swing Era and similarly styled music, as recorded by the original artists.
We are an 18-piece big band available for your listening and dancing pleasure! We perform at a variety of venues from wineries, swing dances, weddings and other private events to city parks and senior centers. You can hear us play regularly at the Wabasha Street Caves Swing Dancing Night from 7 - 10 PM on the first Thursday of every month.
Typical venues that work well for us are ballrooms, banquet and concert halls, city park band shells, community centers, party rooms, wineries, breweries, retirement communities, and senior residences.
We are becoming a Twin Cities wedding band of note with several recent bookings and we are already booking into next year! Call now to check availability and reserve your date!
