Open Rehearsal Night
Calling all jazz musicians and vocalists in the Twin Cities! The Westwind Swing Band invites you to our upcoming Open Rehearsal Night - a unique opportunity to sit in with us and experience the excitement of a live big band rehearsal. We’re a traditional 17-piece swing band featuring a dynamic female lead vocalist, and we’re welcoming instrumentalists and vocalists interested in joining our sub list or simply seeing what we’re all about.
We perform music primarily from the Swing Era - the golden age of big band jazz that brought the world the unforgettable sounds of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and many more. Our mission statement is: To preserve and perform classic Swing Era and similarly styled music, as recorded by the original artists. You can catch us live on the first Thursday of every month at the Wabasha Street Caves Swing Dance Night, as well as various summer music-in-the-park events. We also play multiple private celebrations throughout the year like weddings, anniversaries, and birthday parties.
Our Open Rehearsal Night will be on Wednesday, September 18th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Hopkins North Middle School, located at 10700 Cedar Lake Rd, Minnetonka, MN 55305. We rehearse in the band room which can be found by entering through the main doors on the west side of the school, and following the posted signs to the band room. Doors will be open at 6:45. We hope to see you there! RSVPs are welcome (but absolutely not required) to Mike.Bonfig@gmail.com.
